Programmability and Service Creation for Multimedia Networks

چکیده
The Binding Architecture is an open architecture for building multimedia networks that must guarantee Quality of Service (QOS). In this paper, we explore the notion of a service in the Binding Architecture and propose a conceptual model for building scalable multimedia distribution services based on it. We begin first by examining the relation between resources, their abstractions and the services that can be built from them and use this to derive a general model for binding. Based on this model, we identify a general set of capabilities required for building any multimedia distribution service. We also describe how these capabilities can be incorporated into our view of the service creation process. Finally, we augment our discussion with the description of an example service which we have developed using this paradigm.

Realizing a Foundation for Programmability of ATM Networks with the Binding Architecture
A conceptual framework, called the Binding Model, for the creation, deployment and management of multimedia services on ATM-based broadband networks with end-to-end QOS guarantees is presented. The key function of the associated Binding Architecture is to provide an open programmable environment that facilitates the easy creation of flexible services. We describe the implementation of a prototy...
متن کاملA Fuzzy Based Approach for Rate Control in Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks
Wireless Multimedia Sensor Networks (WMSNs) undergo congestion when a link (or a node) becomes overpopulated in terms of incoming packets. In WMSNs this happens especially in upstream nodes where all incoming packets meet and directed to the sink node. Congestion in networks, if not handled properly, might lead to congestion collapse which deteriorates the quality of service (QoS). Therefore, i...

Research in recent years has revealed the importance of Quality of Service (QoS) support for future Internet technologies. The increasing demand for real-time multimedia communication systems stresses its significance. While at the same time research has exposed the limitations of current networks, namely the lack of extensibility and programmability, the growing interest in the new field of ac...
متن کاملBroadband Network Architectures: Two Approaches
To support a wide range of multimedia services future fixed and wireless broadband network capabilities should allow the distribution of service functions between the customer terminals and the network nodes. Intelligent Networks (IN) can be considered as the bridging technology between the customer based service management and the service execution in the networks. Considering the mobile and b...
